Alright. I understand that adopting a child from Africa is a noble thing. But you know what? I'm getting tired of hearing people talk about it like they're the only children who don't have family.

The average age of the youth homelessness in the United States is nine years old ( [link] ). And people are going to Africa or other foreign countries to find a child who needs adopting.

I can say for myself, that if I decide to adopt when I'm older, I'm going adopt a child from the United States. Why? because before someone tries to fix a problem elsewhere, they should fix the problem at home. In trying to support starving children across the ocean, we're neglecting our own starving children.

And this doesn't just go for the United States. This goes for every couple who thinks that they're being more noble for adopting a child from Africa than adopting a child from their own country. It's not more noble. And for those who say "But someone's sure to adopt local, it wont matter if I don't" if everyone thinks that, then no one is going to adopt local.
